I have nothing but praise for the customer service at Harpers of Cumbria. I bought a 2017 VW Touareg from them in August 2024. On the way home (I live 70 miles away from them in Northumberland) I noticed a problem with the engine.

I asked the garage I use regularly at home if they would mind checking the engine. They did some investigations without coming to a definite conclusion and advised me to contact Harpers because although I had purchased a warranty their investigation work would most likely not be covered.

I spoke to Greg at Harpers and immediately all my concerns and worries evaporated.
Greg told me to bring the car over to them and he would sort it out. He loaned me a car while the work was going on but as the investigations progressed it was obvious that the repair was going to take longer than expected.

This was going to break into our holiday and as we had bought the Touareg to replace one that had been written off in a hit and run things were looking bleak. Once again Greg and his team came to the rescue, they loaned me their works Touareg so we could continue our holiday.

In the end the repairs took longer than expected but although we had returned from holiday Greg allowed us to keep the loan car until the work on ours was completed.

The car is now running like a dream

I would like to thank Greg, Bruce and George for the fantastic customer care and excellent engineering that have given me the car I wanted.

I have no hesitation in recommending this company, their customer care is second to none.

Just picked up my skoda scala from harpers today and could not be happier. I did everything online with josh and although you are a bit hesitant buying a car online , everything was as described, in fact it was better than described as they had put on 4 new tyres and changed all the breaks which I was not expecting. Great to find an honest dealership out there that has very high standards. It was a pleasure to deal with josh who was an honest down to earth bloke who was very genuine. Can’t recommend them enough. While travelling north on the M6 on our way to Scotland, the under-engine cover on our Audi A4 came loose and started flapping. Slowing down, the flapping stopped, which allowed us to come off at Carlisle and phone around to find help. It was 4.30 pm and all garages told they could not help until the morning. At 4.45 pm we dropped into a large dealership who told us their mechanics had already left for the day, but Harpers might still be open. Within a few minutes, our car was on a ramp and a temporary but very secure fix was applied and we were ready to go! The service we received was exemplary, courteous and friendly. Many thanks to Harpers, particularly Bruce Hay, whose swift response made our day. We cannot recommend Harpers highly enough.

My wife’s car broke down on the motorway late on a Sunday evening. The RAC couldn’t solve the issue at the roadside so the car was recovered to Harpers. The issue on the car was investigated on the Monday morning and the required parts ordered in. The car was back on the road on the Tuesday afternoon.

I’ve been getting my service and mot done here for a couple of years now for both my cars. I used to use a certain large Audi dealer in Carlisle for my A3 but their quotes for a new cam belt and, on a separate occasion, for 2 new springs were outrageous so I went to Harpers. I always receive a friendly, efficient service at a reasonable rate.

Sold my Golf to Harpers via Carwow, end to end a great experience. Great comms throughout and the pick up was a breeze. No quibbles on pick up trying to reduce the price as you often expect. Money in the account before the driver left for full peace of mind. Fantastic experience, thanks to Greg and the team.

Recently got a Audi S5 from harpers, from minute one I received excellent service. Greg was on hand everytime I had a query on the car and wasn’t pushy with me to force me into a sale. When I arrived to test drive the car was in perfect condition just as described!! Amazing experience here, normally use Arnold Clark to buy cars but Harper’s is so much better in every way, salesmen are not pushy or do not try to force you to buy any of their extras. This place has serviced my car the last few times and I was definitely not disappointed this time.
